WHAT IS THE GENERAL ITINERARY FOR SMALL GROUP WORKSHOP?
Each workshop will begin early afternoon on the start date, usually with a meet-and-greet luncheon. Following this luncheon, hotel check-in will occur, followed by as much in-field photography as possible during our time together.
WHAT LOCATIONS WILL I VISIT DURING A SMALL GROUP PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP?
There is no shortage of stunning locations to visit and photograph in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. We will photograph the best locations in and around Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, Yoho National Park and possibly even Kananaskis.
No itinerary will be set during the workshops, as we'll take advantage of the best light and meet the group's needs.
Locations may include but are not limited to Vermilion Lakes, Two Jack Lake, Bow Lake, Peyto Lake, Lake Minnewanka, Castle Mountain, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake (Closed from the months of October through June), all located in Banff National Park, Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, Tangle Ridge in Jasper National Park, Kananaskis and David Thompson Country and more.
*Locations are subject to change, and no location is guaranteed due to time of year, access, weather, and other conditions.*
WHAT WILL I LEARN DURING THE WORKSHOP?
Gina and myself are thrilled to be able to teach you everything we can about landscape photography during your time with us.
During BANFF WINTER WONDERLAND WORKSHOP, expect to discover:
•The basics of landscape photography: Choosing and making the most of your landscape photography equipment. Identifying your subject and supporting subjects, composition, assessing and using available light, creative landscape photography choices, vision, and more. This will be discussed in the field.
•Specific landscape photography techniques: Choosing manual settings when and why, white balance, focus during all types of light, including at night, creative settings for slow shutter speeds, exposure bracketing, focus stacking, and other techniques. This will be discussed in the field.
•Post-Processing: On-location photography will be prioritized. Formal post-processing discussion will likely not occur during the in-person workshop; however, follow-up post-processing videos and opportunities for question and answer and demonstration during a two-hour online interactive video classroom setting will be offered following a workshop. (A value of over $1000).
WHAT PHOTOGRAPHY GEAR OR EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
The photography gear and equipment you already own are likely perfect for all landscape photography workshops.
However, Gina and myself recommend the following photography gear for all workshops:
•DSLR (crop or full frame) or mirrorless camera
•A wide-angle lens or lenses (somewhere between 11-35mm) *Note: I personally use a Canon EF11-24mm f4.0 for most of my landscape photography images.
•A mid-range lens (somewhere between 24-70mm, if you have one)
•A telephoto (somewhere between 70-600mm, if you have one)Sturdy Tripod (tripod spikes are useful in loose rock, gravel and in icy and snow conditions)
Optional but highly recommended additional landscape photography gear and equipment:
*Note: Further gear and tour preparation recommendations will be provided in your complimentary welcome package.

HOW MANY PARTICIPANTS WILL THERE BE IN THE SMALL GROUP BANFF WINTER WONDERLAND WORKSHOP?
We like to keep our groups as small as possible for a few reasons, one of them is we want to make sure we can give as much time as possible to each and every participants. You will be there to learn? We want to show you as much techniques and content as possible. We always go with a 1:4 ratio, meaning 4 participants per instructor. And because Gina and I will be co-hosting this workshop together, we will take a maximum of eight (8) participants.
Single occupancy and double occupancy options will be available for all workshops. However, double occupancy is only available if another participant has requested this option, so if this is your preference, register with a friend to ensure your choice.
